पिछले एक दशक मे उत्तराखंड के कई स्थानों पर कृषि में विविधिता आई है, जिससे किसानों की आय मे भी वृद्धी हुई है। लेकिन पारंपरिक फसलों की अनदेखी के चलते इनकी कई प्रजातियाँ विलुप्त हो गयी हैं । इन्हीं मे से एक काला भट्ट है जिसकी दिन प्रति दिन पैदावार कम हो रही है। पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों मे भट्ट की कई किस्मे हैं , जिसमे काला चपटा मुख्य किस्म है। राष्ट्रीय व अंतराष्ट्रीय बाज़ार में काला भट्ट की भारी मांग है ओर इसमें ओमेगा 3 फैटी एसिड भी अत्यधिक मात्रा मे पाया जाता है, जो स्वास्थ्य के लिए बहुत गुणकारी होता है।
इसी के चलते हिमालयन एक्शन रिसर्च सेंटर (हार्क) ने वर्ष 2016 मे 200 किसानों के साथ काला भट्ट का उत्पादन कार्यक्रम जनपद चमोली के हापला क्षेत्र मे किया। इसी उत्पादन कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत किसानो का काला भट्ट की खेती को लेकर तकनीकी ज्ञान व क्षमता विकास किया गया जिसके परिणामस्वरूप स्वयं की खपत के इलावा किसानों के द्वारा रिकार्ड 1500 किलो ग्राम काला भट्ट विक्रय किया गया। भविष्य मे ये किसान काला भट्ट के बीज की पूर्ति करेंगे ओर अपनी व अन्य किसानों की खाद्य व आर्थिक सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने मे योगदान देंगे ।

In the past decade, there has been a diversification of agriculture in many places in Uttarakhand, which has increased the income of the farmers. But due to the ignorance of traditional crops many of these species have become extinct. There is a black bhatt from these days whose yield is decreasing day by day. There are many varieties of Bhatt in the mountainous regions, in which the black flattened main variety is. There is a demand for black bhatt in national and international markets, and omega 3 is also found in excessive amounts, which is very useful for health.
Due to this, Himalayan Action Research Center (HARC), along with 200 farmers in the year 2016, produced Kala Bhatt production program in the Hapala area of Chamoli district. Under this production program, technical knowledge and capacity building were developed regarding the cultivation of black bhatt of farmers, which resulted in sales of 1500 kilograms of black belt by farmers without own consumption. In the future, these farmers will fill the seeds of Kala Bhatt and contribute to ensure food and economic security of themselves and other farmers.
